more color exercises!

so i'm gonna re-do that first sketchy thing (the picture i have on my last post) because it's not quite as effective as i was hoping....
anyways, here's some of my other ones i've been workin on!

i really like that second to last one.  that was one where i was supposed to key the color and i think it worked out really well. the last one though i don't think worked out so well...so i'll see what i can do to fix it.

color exercises

the three colors i chose for the color exercises are cyan, magenta, and yellow-orange.  I really think they work well together, and they're pretty opposite.  it took me forever to make a design that showed depth! i finally figured it out though, and this is what it looks like :

I haven't added color yet, but that's the next thing on the list!

dribbbbbbble

YAY we finally turned in our posters! I am pretty happy with my results and I'm ready to get going with this next project.

We did a little critique of our twenty word "sketches".  It was good to know which ones effectively communicated our word and then little things to fix on the ones that weren't as effective.  I've already done the pathfinder exercise...that was interesting because I could do different things in Illustrator than if I were to just cut and paste letters.  It's going to be hard to choose out of all of them which ones to work on for the final product!  So far, I think this is my favorite project this far.  Maybe it's because I want to go into graphic design which involves typography...

cut and paste!

Today we cut and pasted a looooot of letters :P it was a ton of fun I think.  I really enjoyed seeing how creative others got with their words and even how creative I got.  After awhile though, I seemed to run out of ideas! Maybe all I need is a break...so when I start doing them again hopefully I'll be able to come up with some newer ideas.
Here are some of the better examples of what I did today!

woo hoo!

I'm so glad this project is finally starting to wrap up! Just a few more tweaks and we shall be done!  I have learned a lot throughout this project, mostly about processing the "process".  The final product will be so satisfying to look at and think about all of the hard work that was put into it.  Working with Illustrator and some Photoshop was a learning experience too...like I said, I had a lot of previous experience with it, but I have learned twice as much just with this project.
I can't wait to turn it in!!!!!!

final 16

This project is starting to wrap up pretty well! I'm actually pretty happy with most of my drawings/sketches in illustrator.  A little tweaking and they'll be good to go!
So for my color, I think I'm going to choose a bold blue.  Blue is a calm color, and I think that it represents peace, stability, and order.  My clip assimilates with all of these things...it helps to organize things and lessen chaos, creating a more peaceful environment.  I'm choosing a bold blue because even though it's calm and organized, it's also fun and can make a statement.

working with illustrator

I'm really excited about everything I'm learning about illustrator through this project.  there are SO many possibilities that you can achieve by using it and so many tools that I never knew about that are now essential to me when I'm using illustrator.
I'm also glad that we have an opportunity to use color in this project.  The concept of color and color symbolism as well as the usage of multiple colors together is really interesting to me.  I like learning and figuring out what colors go well together and how to use those colors to really communicate concepts and ideas.
I can't wait to see my finished project!!!!!!!

yesterday!

so yesterday was really interesting...we put up all of our best sketches on the wall and everyone went around and critiqued them.  It was nice to see what others thought of mine and others' sketches.  It is kinda nice because now I know which of mine are the most effective and which of them in need to work on.  I'm excited that we got to the refining part of the sketches because now we can start using them to convey our ideas on the objects on a different level.  It will be cool to see everyone's projects when we are done to see what their take is on their object. :)
